Online Therapy for Stress
and Burnout

Some seasons of life ask more of us than we have to give: relentless workloads, caregiving, financial pressure, adjusting to a new country and culture, or simply too many demands stacked for too long.

Over time, chronic stress stops feeling like an event and starts feeling like a personality — irritability, poor sleep, tension in the body, a mind that won't stop, and eventually the flatness and cynicism of burnout.

Stress is not a personal failing, and burnout is not laziness. They're the predictable results of a nervous system that has been in overdrive too long — and both respond well to the right support.

We provide online stress counselling for adults (17+) across Ontario dealing with workplace stress and burnout, caregiver fatigue, academic pressure, chronic stress affecting health and sleep, and cultural adjustment and immigration stress. For newcomers navigating that particular weight — a new country, new systems, family far away.  We offer therapy with genuine cultural sensitivity and respect.

Clients who would like to access therapy in Hindi or Gujarati, are welcome to contact our therapist, Hiral Shah..

How stress counselling helps

We work on two levels. First, relief: practical, body-based skills — drawn from DBT and somatic approaches informed by Polyvagal Theory — that help your nervous system come down from constant alert. Second, the patterns underneath: the difficulty saying no, the perfectionism, the boundaries that leak, the beliefs about what you must do to be worthy or safe. Healthy boundary-setting is one of our clinic's core areas of focus, and it's often where stress work becomes life-changing rather than just calming.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between stress and anxiety?

Stress is usually a response to identifiable demands and tends to ease when the demands do; anxiety often persists without a clear cause, or far out of proportion to it. They overlap and feed each other — and therapy helps with both, so you don't need to have it sorted out before reaching out.

What are the signs of burnout?

Common markers are exhaustion that rest doesn't fix, growing cynicism or detachment from work or caregiving you once cared about, and a sense that nothing you do makes a difference. Burnout builds gradually, which is why it so often goes unrecognized until it's severe.

Can short-term counselling help with stress?

Often, yes. Skill-focused work on stress and boundaries can be relatively brief. If deeper patterns emerge that you want to address, you'll have full choice about whether to continue further.

Is stress counselling covered by insurance in Ontario?

Many extended health plans cover "Registered Psychotherapist (RP)" services; OHIP does not. Receipts are provided after every session, and sliding-scale spots are available.
